INFORMATION

Bio of Meg McDonald Owner and President

With an award-wining sculptor for a mother and a father in the foreign service, Meg grew up overseas and understands the importance of self-expression, both in art and in other areas of life. With twenty years and counting in the graphic arts world, Meg has manufactured all types of printed materials for nonprofits, businesses and artists. Her drive to maintain the highest production values and exceed customers’ expectations brings a much needed elevation to the manufacturing of flexible car magnets, window clings and buttons. Meg recently received a Certificate in Fundraising and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Washington. One of the cornerstones of RideMagnetism™ is the importance of giving back to the community. The new venture allows Meg to collaborate with Patty Andrews, her business partner, to create new forms of joyful and passionate expression and help nonprofits achieve their goals.

Bio of Patty Andrews Owner and Creative Director

Patty Andrews started out as an image maker. She drew on every available surface: walls, furniture, newspapers and reams of paper. One night when Patty was four she drew a huge Dutch boy and girl in wooden shoes with an orange crayon next to her bed. In the light of day she admired her handiwork—then her parents found it.

When she grew up she took printmaking in college and eventually found herself in the Graphic Design program at the University of Washington. After college where she received her BFA with honors, she worked in publishing as a designer, art director and project manager, and her image-making days had become a thing of the past.

Patty enjoys giving the public another venue to support worthy causes while expressing their true colors, be it orange or otherwise. RideMagnetism™ gives Patty an opportunity to “draw on the walls” again.

A Unique Shout-Out to Dad on Father’s Day

Acknowledge your dad in a brand new way! Let him know how much you appreciate him with a large, heart-shaped Father’s Day magnet from RideMagnetism™.

Edmonds-based RideMagnetism™ and Jody Marx from Point North Design have created large, magnetic hearts for Father’s Day. Send the magnet to your dad for the fridge; put it on the passenger side of your car when you pick him up for brunch, or surprise your dad by putting it on his own car!

Kara Ceriello, Head Cheese at Not A Number in Seattle says, “We love to support local artists and their unique work. RideMagnetism™ has set a new standard for design and production of Outdoor Magnets with this heart-shaped collection for Father’s Day and other special occasions.”

Jody Marx, creative to RideMagnetism™ and principal of Point North Design, a premium design agency based in Seattle, designed the heart collection. Marx also created the designs for the popular Inaugural Magnets and Commemorative Buttons sold in Washington D.C. stores.

RideMagnetism™ all started with the idea of outdoor flexible car magnets and the desire to make a difference. Meg McDonald, President, and Patty Andrews, Creative Director, wanted to give mission-based organizations a way to call out their message and issues that needed attention. In May 2008, McDonald (with a nonprofit background) and Andrews, two veterans from the graphic arts industry, started an Edmonds-based enterprise called McAndrews Productions LLC and spun off RideMagnetism™, which creates work for cars to help “Drive your message home™.”

McDonald and Andrews have been working tirelessly “in creating dynamic visuals to go with what people want to express,” describes Andrews. People want to express their passion. Through RideMagnetism™, people now have the ability to make a personal statement attractive and dynamic.

McDonald describes their products as a “huge, new, untapped medium – so inviting that when people see our magnets or window clings on cars, a favorable impression is generated and something positive often happens as a result. It’s an authentic expression of one’s beliefs that can mean something to others.”

Many vehicles can reach over 50,000 people in a week, according to McDonald. “Our research reveals that a simple, visually-appealing message is more memorable than a traditional advertisement, and also more economical,” claims McDonald. “Research shows our car magnets and window clings broaden messages by reaching more populations and areas that can’t be reached by other media. Let’s create communities of like-minded people and encourage others to think openly.”

Authentic RideMagnetism™ products have the RideMagnetism.com brand name, and are made with 50% recycled material. See RideMagnetism.com for a complete line of magnets, window clings and buttons. There is no minimum order, volume orders are discounted, and all are delivered or mailed directly to the buyer for free. The Father’s Day heart is $12.95. More information, purchases and requests for custom pieces are handled at www.RideMagnetism.com or 206.390.7024 or meg@ridemagnetism.com.

Obama Memorabilia by Edmonds Start-Up Ships to the Inauguration in Washington D.C.

Edmonds-based RideMagnetism™ and Jody Marx from Point North are selling their Obama commemorative memorabilia in stores in Washington, D.C. for the Inauguration. Local interest is strong with many regional parties also celebrating the Obama inauguration.

“It’s good progress for us,” says Meg McDonald, president of RideMagnetism. “We started with the Democratic National Convention and are ending with the Obama Inauguration.” The Denver Post, in reviewing the merchandise at the DNC, noted that, “Finally. A nonpermanent way to declare your political allegiances from RideMagnetism.com.”

Jody Marx, creative to RideMagnetism and principal of Point North, a premium boutique design agency based in Seattle, created the designs that are so popular for the inaugural magnets and commemorative buttons. The creative work of Patty Andrews, Pat Hansen, Jaime Clay and Liz Johannesen are present in other pieces of the Obama campaign memorabilia for sale.

It all started with outdoor flexible car magnets and the desire to make a difference. McDonald and Patty Andrews, creative director, wanted to give mission-based organizations a way to call attention to the importance of their message or issues that needed attention. In May 2008, McDonald and Andrews, two veterans from the graphic arts industry (McDonald with a nonprofit background), started an Edmonds-based enterprise called McAndrews Productions and spun off RideMagnetism, which creates work for cars to help “Drive your message home.”

As the presidential election became heated, it occurred to the business partners that candidates needed great design and high production value in unique promotional products to get the word out and stand out from the crowd. McDonald discovered that no one was using the “power of attraction” that magnets have. Further research revealed that many people did not want stickers on their cars and liked the adaptability of magnets and window clings.

McDonald and Andrews have been working tirelessly “in creating dynamic visuals to go with what people want to express,” describes Andrews. People want to express their passion. Through RideMagnetism, people now have the ability to make a personal statement attractive.

McDonald describes their products as a “huge, new, untapped medium, so powerful, when people see cars with our magnets or window clings, a favorable impression is generated and something positive often happens as result. It’s an authentic expression of one’s beliefs that can mean something to others.”

Many vehicles can reach over 50,000 people in a week, according to McDonald and Andrews. “Our research reveals that a simple, visually-appealing message is more remembered than an advertisement,” claims McDonald. “Research shows that when people see cars with these magnets or window clings, it broadens the message, reaching more population and areas that can’t be reached by other media,” exclaims McDonald. “We can create communities of like-minded people and encourage others to think openly.“
